Second edition of Web Application Architecture: Principles, Protocols & Practices to be released next year.

Book cover Leon Shklar and I have gotten the go-ahead from our publisher, Wiley & Sons, to write a second edition of our Web technology textbook, Web Application Architecture: Principles, Protocols & Practices. The first edition, published back in 2003 (when Leon and I both worked at Dow Jones), is being used at a number of schools as the textbook for senior and graduate level courses in Web application development.

Rather than concentrating on one specific approach or platform for building Web applications, our book focuses (as the title implies) on the basic principles of good application design, the underlying protocols associated with Web technology, and the best practices for creating scalable, extensible, maintainable applications.

The second edition is scheduled to come out in early 2008.
